Anti-Corruption Project in Albania |
Anti-Corruption Website |
Reducing
Corruption in Albania – a new 3-year project started on October 1 in Albania.
The project is sponsored by USAID and implemented by Management Systems International
(MSI). The objectives of the project are:
- To increase the awareness of Albanian society regarding
the causes and costs of corruption and to transform that awareness into advocacy for
reforms
- To engage civil society, business and government together
in a non-adversarial partnership to take action to manage their common problem
- To monitor the progress of these activities and reforms to
fight and prevent corruption
The project will support the formation of a coalition of
civil society organizations (including business and the mass media) focused on the problem
of corruption, the development of a civil society action plan, promotion of a
public-private partnership to deal with the problem in a cooperative and
non-confrontational way, and continuing assistance in the implementation of
anti-corruption initiatives.

| Council
of Europe |
| The
Council of Europe Group of States Against
Corruption (GRECO) was established under the auspice of the
Council of Europe to monitor, through a process of mutual evaluation and
peer pressure, the observance of the CoE Guiding Principles for the Fight
against Corruption and the implementation of international legal instruments adopted
in pursuance of the Programme of
Action against Corruption (PAC) of the CoE. According to its Statute, the aim of the
GRECO is to improve its members' capacity to fight corruption by monitoring the compliance
of States with their undertakings in this field. In this way, it will contribute to
identifying deficiencies and insufficiencies of national mechanisms against corruption,
and to prompting the necessary legislative, institutional and practical reforms in order
to better prevent and combat corruption. |
