SOAN 309: Colonization and Development
OVERVIEW OF THE ETHNOGRAPHY ASSIGNMENT:
This assignment has four major parts:
I. Reading the text
II. Presenting a report to the class on the text [Class Reports on
Ethnographic Reading]
III. A written version that elaborates on II and incorporates critiques [Written Report on Ethnographic Reading]
IV. Critiques of other reports [see Critiques of Ethnographic
Reports]
Class Reports for Class Reports are listed below, along with the dates on which critiques are due, and drafts of reports are due, if a draft is to be turned in. You do not need to turn in a draft, but if you want comments from me for revision, you must turn it in by the date listed. The final Written Report on Ethnograpic Reading is due at the scheduled time of the final, Tuesday December 14, by 11 am. Final reports may be turned in earlier. NOTE: By class agreement, this is also the due date for the third reaction paper. There will be no final exam, the third reaction paper will serve in lieu of an exam.
The following schedule has some flexibility in it, so that if a discussion or reports run long, we can spill into the next class. However, we will not know that until the very last minute. So do NOT count on delays. Be ready for the assigned day.
