Annotated bibliography
Last Updated 1-13-05
Due in Class Wednesday, March 2, 2005 --
or sooner!
Each group should prepare a list of at least 15, but preferably 20, annotated resources for their project to hand in at class Wednesday March 2 -- OR SOONER!
NOTE: These items should be in print form, not electronic. They may NOT include items already on the course readings. The point of this exercise is to go beyond what we are doing in class. NOTE: items that were originally in print, like journal articles, but are now electronic, like JSTOR count as print items.
Annotations should be from one sentence to one paragraph explaining what you expect this resource contributes to your case study. [NOTE: Sometimes those expectations do not work out once you dig into the source further, but often they do.]
There are several points to
this exercise:
1. To keep you moving in the search for resources.
2. To give you an opportunity to ask questions. For example,
you may have two sources that contradict each other and may want guidance in
sorting out which to use or trust. Or, you may have read through part of a
source and found it difficult to understand. Feel free to ask for help.
You may also include items you found, but abandoned because they proved to be
not useful [your annotation should explain why they
were not useful].
3. It helps me to "look over your shoulders" while you
work, and allows me to suggest ways or sources that might help you.
4. It allows me to make sure you are using the correct referencing
formats. Please consult Formats and
Bibliographies of Papers & Theses for the correct formatting of
references.
NOTE: In addition to the items above, you may also note electronic references [urls] in this bibliography. Be sure to include the full URL. Also, if think the URL may be of general interest to the class, note that and I will put in on the links page.
