But Sooner is Better!
Your case prospectus should be between 5 and 10 pages long. You need only
include specific bibliographic items to which you refer. The goals of
this exercise are to:
- keep you on schedule
- get you to think about how your case fits into the course
- to highlight any problems you are having
- to get you to plan your presentation
Your prospectus should include the following:
- 1. A general, brief description of the case including:
- Description of the parties on the frontier
- How it fits into our typology of frontiers
- A time-line for the history of this frontier
- How you are going to organize your paper[s]:
One, large group paper, or
A brief summary paper, supplemented by individual papers, or
Separate papers on the same conflict.
- 2. The last part of 1 should segue, fade into, a discussion of how you see your case
fitting into the general discussion, analysis, and understanding of
frontiers.
- 3. A BRIEF description of the case, including its history, how
it was formed, how it has changed [if it has], and what it might be like in
the future.
- 4. How you plan to analyze the case.
- 5. Any problems you are encountering.
